Prepared for: Tennis Community App

Downloads are easy.
A full court isn't.

Matchmaking apps don't fail from lack of installs — they fail from thin coverage. This is a launch strategy built around one number: local players per court, not total users.

The actual competitive gap

Generic fitness and social apps treat every city the same — broad ads, national influencers, hope. A matchmaking product only works when a real cluster of players exists close enough to actually play each other. That means the launch has to be won street by street, club by club, before it's won on a chart. This is a local-density problem wearing a marketing brief.

The sequence — not a list, an order of operations

01

Seed the courts you already touch

Start acquisition inside the existing business footprint — current members, coaches, partner clubs — before spending a dollar on strangers. This is the fastest path to a first playable cluster.

02

Local creator partnerships, not follower count

Prioritize club pros, regional leagues, and micro-creators embedded in the actual tennis scene over broad-reach influencers. Relevance beats reach when the goal is a dense local map.

03

Referral loops built for pairs, not solo shares

A tennis app is only useful with an opponent. Referral incentives are structured around "bring your hitting partner," both online (in-app invite + reward) and offline (courtside QR at clubs and tournaments).

04

Density before broadcast

Growth is sequenced neighborhood by neighborhood — hit a critical mass in one area before opening the next — so every new user finds a match immediately instead of an empty map.

Sample execution — referral flow

A mocked offline-to-online referral mechanic, the kind that would run at partner clubs during launch week.

1

Player scans courtside QR after a match

2

Both players prompted to invite their next opponent

3

Invite unlocks a doubles match credit for both

4

New player lands on a map already showing local matches

What gets measured

0Downloads, week 1 (local push)
0% weekly active, first 90 days
0Avg. matches per active user / mo
0% growth from referrals, not ads

Let's build the first full court together.

This is a working draft of how I'd approach week one. I'd want fifteen minutes to pressure-test it against your existing member base and current partner clubs before locking the plan.
